Redesign Project: Peacoat to Military Jacket

So, a friend asked me if I would help him with a re-fashioning project. He had a red peacoat that he wanted to have redesigned into a military jacket. Obviously I said yes – how much fun was this going to be?

So we met for a few hours and discussed design ideas and directions – he provided me with loads of great pictures, resources, fabrics and notions (a jar FULL of buttons!) and I took it home to work my magic.

This project will take shape in numerous stages, but I was able to get something to him before the holidays so that he could show it off to his family and friends at his various holiday soirees. I have to apologize in advance, as my photo editor won’t let me rotate my pictures.

Check out the pics below…

This is a layout shot so you can see where the jacket is going!

This was the final layout view before I started to sew the stripes on. Looks cool, doesn't it?

This is how I delivered the jacket to my client before the holidays so he could show it off to family/friends. So far, so good!

What a great project! There is a lot more exciting work to be done, so stay tuned!
