Well 2023, you sure threw some curveballs. We are already two and a half months in to 2024, however I began dreaming of my project plans for the year back in December. Last year was supposed to be a “no yarn buying year” and surprisingly I lasted until July when shit hit the fan. However, I managed to be fairly productive and got a lot of projects started/finished. I will eventually update on those projects once I take some photos.
Due to my maternity leave, I spent a lot of time at home last year analyzing my yarn stash and reviewing the patterns I have purchased. So I thought I would put together a little summary of the project plans I want to complete this year. All things considered, this list is overachieving (as per usual for me). I know I am not going to complete everything on it and I am ok with that. It will include crochet and knitting project plans that I would like to complete and is subject to last minute projects coming up. I haven’t had a chance to sort through my sewing project plans for the year as all of my sewing time is being dedicated to an upcoming market I have for Mallow and Six.
Quite a few of these projects appeared in my 2023 Project Plans post but here’s hoping this is the last time you see me adding any of these to a list of project plans.
Projects to finish
Elsa’s Sweater
Pattern: Anniversary Sweater by Védís Jónsdóttir
Yarn: Istex Lettlopi
The lower body and both arms complete and am ready to attach to do the colour work, so this really shouldn’t take long. I just had to re-work the design a little as I am making this a few sizes smaller than the smallest graded size in the pattern. A lot of math was done for this one and I hope it turns out.

DONE!
Here is a photo of it just finished. A blog post is coming.

Optic Hoodie
Pattern: Optic Hoodie by White Owl Crochet (IN TESTING)
Yarn: Knit Picks Heatherly Worsted
I test knit this pattern for Mollie at White Owl Crochet Co. I started this one using some Lion Brand Wool Ease from my stash, however, I saw a sale and decided to buy the Knit Picks yarn.
Complete by: Feb 4
DONE!
I’ll also do a separate post for this one, in the meantime, here is the completed hoodie in action:

Opal Tank
Pattern: Opal Tank by Two of Wands
Yarn: Lion Brand Coboo in Silver
A work in progress, the back and 90% of the front are complete so this shouldn’t require that much more time.
Hopefully I can get this done by summer.
Complete by: May 31
Ziggy Interrupted
Pattern: Ziggy Interrupted by Sandra Paul
Yarn: A variety of High Twist Sock from The Loving Path Yarn, plus some miss Bags
I have started this but have only finished about 30 of the 80 some-odd squares needed to start assembly. I love the way this is working up so far and how the colours are working together
Complete by: December 31
M’s blanket
Pattern: self drafted
Yarn: Bernat Premium
This is going to be a blanket for my son’s bed. I started this a while ago and have the goal of finishing this this year. Inspired by another moss stitch blanket I saw on Pinterest, I just started one day with no real plans. Now, I’m about 45% done and have some plans for how the striping will work. It looks like it is Hudson’s Bay inspired.
Complete by: December 31
New Projects
Pattern: Camaro Sweater by Tanis Fibre Arts
Yarn: DK Tweed by Polka Dot Creek
I’ve had my eye on this one forever and I bought the yarn for it this last year. I opted for a really nice neon tweed set of minis plus a charcoal grey from Polka Dot Creek for this. I am excited to get started!
Pattern: Lifesavers by Tanis Fibre Arts
Yarn: I have two sets of yarn that I am trying to decide between. A really nice faded pastel scheme from Sewrella Yarns or a stormy fall set from Leo & Roxy. Only time will tell.
A friend gave me this pattern for my birthday a few years ago. I have really meant to get it done – hopefully, this fall I will have a new cardigan!
Pattern: Summerlin Cardi by Gorilla Knits
Yarn: Lion Brand Comfy Cotton
This one has been on my to make list forever. I bought a kit from a Lion Brand sale in 2021 I think. I went with the same yarn/colourway as the sample.
Pattern: Read Between the Lines Shawl by Tammy Canavan-Soldaat
Yarn: Scheepjes Whirl
I bought this yarn on sale last year up north while we were away for a wedding and it is absolutely gorgeous. It’s one of those stash items that keep haunting me everytime I see it. I know it is going to take a while, but it is going to be so pretty.
Pattern: Folklore Cardigan by Lion Brand
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease
I saw this pattern on instagram and really feel like this cardigan deserves to be in my closet. I have a lot of Lion Brand Wool Ease that I bought as part of a kit for a blanket a while ago, and let’s be honest, I do not need another blanket. So I might use it for this sweater. However, I also have another project (see next) planned that will use some of this yarn, so I might need to purchase yarn for this one.
Pattern: Hygge Burst Hexie Blanket by Mallory Krall
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease
I started this project this month. I am using up a bunch of Lion Brand Wool Ease that I bought in bulk to make hats one year. I’m 4 hexagons in (I need 90) and I’m loving it so far.
