Get Crafty: Supply List

Craft hobbies can get quite expensive. I have tried to keep the supplies list low and full of easy to find supplies, some of which you might already have on hand. I encourage you to try all of the challenges, but supplies are separated by activity so if you would like to pick and choose which ones you do, you can just gather the supplies you need. Either way, I challenge you to do something crafty each day of the week.

**All of these supplies are accessible online through Michaels, online retailers or your local dollar store (check for curbside pickup).**

KNITTING

Yarn. Thicker yarn is better for when you are learning (just don’t go too thick). I would go for something in the 4 or 5 weight class. Almost all yarn labels have the classification on the label. You can read more about this in the Day One Challenge post. I would recommend buying 400-500 yards of yarn. It will depend on how long you want to make your scarf.

Knitting Needles. For this project, you will need a pair of straight knitting needles in the size specified on your yarn label. More information in the Day One Challenge Post

Scissors. Any scissors will do

PAINTING

Acrylic paint. Dollar store paints will do for this

Paintbrushes. Smaller ones are best to be able to get details in

Pencil/paper. For sketching your design

A rock. I prefer smooth flat ones but you can use whatever you can find

Something to put your paints on. A piece of cardboard will work

A container. Something to put water in for rinsing your brushes (use something you won’t be putting food in)

Optional: Sealer. Mod Podge Matte or Mod Podge Gloss (indoors) or Mod Podge Outdoor or Krylon Crystal Clear

COLOURING

Printer

Paper

Colouring tools (pencil crayons, crayons, markers, highlighters, whatever you have on hand!)

CLAY ART

Clay. I like to use polymer clay (you bake this to cure it), but if you have Crayola clay at home, you can use that (this is air dry and will dry out). Polymer will not dry out/harden until it is baked. If you can’t find clay or don’t want to buy it here is a homemade air dry clay recipe

Rubber Gloves. Gloves will help to prevent fingerprints in your finished clay piece and keep your hands clean

A surface to work on. You don’t want to stain any tables or counters. Polymer clay is not food safe, so anything you are using with clay cannot be used with food items

CROCHETING

Yarn. I recommend a size 4 weight. There is more information on this in the Day One Challenge post. You can use the same as what you used for your scarf if you’d like. We won’t need much!

Crochet hook. Match the size on your yarn label. Likely close to a 5mm

Scissors

See you on Day One!
